Our Solution:

As is often with cases where the garage door opener won’t close and the door is reversing, we checked on the photo eye sensors and indeed discovered misalignment between them. Replaced frayed wiring that connected the sensors to ensure they won’t cause unreliable performance. Realigned the opener safety sensors and checked lens conditions to ensure no scratches on them. Tested the garage door reverse mechanism to ensure it only engaged when detecting obstacles.
